Other Heritage Regions

Southeast Region - In the southeast corner of Colorado lie the ancestral grounds of the Cheyenne, Arapaho, Comanche, and Ute Indian tribes, biologically diverse prairie and riparian ecosystems containing the greatest concentration of North American bird species to be found anywhere on the continent, and places where human activities have shaped the course of world events. map_seco
Park County - Perched high in the Colorado Rockies, Park County is a microcosm of Western and natural history. Ranging in altitude from 7,100 to 14,286 feet, the region has been described as a salt marsh by Spanish explorers, a game parc by French trappers, and America’s Mongolia by modern scientists.  This compelling and accessible basin is home to the nation’s highest town, gold mines, cattle ranches, mountain passes and rare plant communities, as well as Ute Indian encampments that were used for several hundred years.

Southwest Region - There is a special mystique about the southwest region of Colorado. It can be felt among ancient Anasazi Indian cliff dwellings at Mesa Verde National Park and in the quiet of rugged mining ghost towns high in the San Juan Mountains. SouthwestMapIcon
